Starshipit Return Labels Bring Australia and New Zealand Returns to Exchange It
Exchange It now generates APAC return labels through Starshipit, across Australia Post, NZ Post, Aramex, and DHL Express. Connect your own courier contracts and go.

If you run a Shopify store in Australia or New Zealand, you already know the return label is the awkward part. Most label providers are built around US or European carriers, so an ANZ merchant ends up emailing labels by hand, asking customers to pay return postage, or skipping the prepaid label entirely. Today that changes: Exchange It can now generate return labels through Starshipit, the shipping platform built for Australia and New Zealand.
Starshipit joins Shippo, EasyPost, Sendcloud, and ShipStation as a built-in return-label provider. With it, Exchange It now covers returns across the regions that matter most: the United States, Europe (through Sendcloud), and now Australia and New Zealand. Wherever your customers send parcels back from, there is a provider built for that lane.
What is new
Exchange It can now create return labels through Starshipit, the shipping automation platform used across the ANZ region. It is a bring-your-own-account integration: you connect your own Starshipit credentials, and Exchange It uses them to generate return labels against the courier contracts you already have in place, including Australia Post, NZ Post, Aramex, and DHL Express.
The simplest way to think about it: the couriers you already use to send orders out can now bring them back. A return approved in Exchange It can produce a prepaid Starshipit label in the same screen, on the carrier accounts and rates you have already negotiated.
How it works
You will find the new controls at Integrations > Shipping > Starshipit Integration. Setup takes a minute:
- Turn on Show Starshipit in my Return Shipping Label options. This toggle is off by default, and switching it on activates the credential fields below it.
- In your Starshipit account, open Settings, then API, to find your API Key and Subscription Key. Starshipit uses both together, so you will enter the pair.
- Paste each value into the matching field in Exchange It, then save. Both credentials are encrypted on save, and Starshipit immediately becomes a selectable option when you generate a return label.
For the full walkthrough, including how to replace a saved credential, see the help article on setting up Starshipit for return shipping labels.
What you can do
Once Starshipit is active, it shows up anywhere Exchange It creates a return label:
- Cover Australia and New Zealand returns. Starshipit is built for the ANZ region, so a return coming back within Australia or New Zealand gets a prepaid label on a local courier instead of a manual workaround.
- Use the courier contracts you already have. Labels are generated against your own Starshipit account, so returns ride the Australia Post, NZ Post, Aramex, and DHL Express contracts and rates you have already set up, not a generic reseller rate.
- Compare rates across providers. When you generate a label, the rate picker merges options from every active provider and groups them under clear headers, so a Starshipit return option sits side by side with the others and you can pick the best one per return.
Nothing changes for returns you have already processed. Existing labels and their tracking keep working exactly as before, and you can add Starshipit without disturbing anything already in flight.
Built to be safe
- Your credentials stay encrypted. The API key and subscription key are encrypted when you save, shown masked afterward, and never exposed back to the browser. They are stored independently, so you can rotate one without re-entering the other: clear the field, paste the new value, and save.
- You stay in control. Return options come from your own Starshipit account, so the couriers, rates, and contracts in play are the ones you set up, not ours.
Availability
Shipping label integrations, Starshipit included, are part of the Advanced plan. On other plans the Starshipit controls stay disabled and you will see an option to upgrade in their place. If you are already on Advanced, Starshipit is live for you now at no extra cost.
Get started
Open Integrations > Shipping > Starshipit Integration, flip the toggle on, and paste your Starshipit API key and subscription key. Your next ANZ return can go out on a prepaid Starshipit label in the approval flow you already use. Shipping from other regions too? Keep every provider running at once and let the rate picker surface the best option per return.
Starshipit rounds out a run of shipping integrations we have shipped recently, following ShipStation and Sendcloud. New to Exchange It? Install it from the Shopify App Store, or browse the help center to see everything it can do.
